Hard shells
Wipe polycarbonate and ABS with a soft cloth and mild soapy water. For scuffs, a melamine sponge used lightly works on most matte finishes; test a hidden area first. Avoid solvents, which can haze the surface.
Soft-side fabric
Vacuum first, then spot-clean with a fabric cleaner suitable for nylon or polyester. Do not machine wash, which can distort the internal frame and damage wheel housings.
Interior linings
Empty every pocket, vacuum thoroughly and wipe with a lightly damp cloth. For odors, leave the bag open in a ventilated area with a box of baking soda inside for a few days.
Wheels and handles
Pull hair and debris from wheel axles with tweezers, wipe the treads and extend the handle to wipe the tubes. A dry silicone spray on the tubes keeps the handle smooth.
Let it dry completely
Never close a damp bag. Trapped moisture causes mildew in linings and corrosion in hardware.
